Mountain Bike Ashburton Inc

Mountain Bike Ashburton (formerly Mid Canterbury Mountain Bike Club) is a group of passionate local riders charged with maintaining and developing an 11.5km cross-country riverside loop & skills park in central Ashburton, as well as promoting a positive culture of mountain biking in the community.

Ashburton MTB Loop

Running along the Ashburton River near the CBD is Mountain Bike Ashburton’s purpose built mountain bike track. The loop is well sign-posted to guide riders through the named sections in a clockwise direction. The full loop is 11.5km but can be shortened by turning around in several places.

ACL Skills Park

An area developed by Mountain Bike Ashburton for riders to practice and improve their skills. They have pump tracks, jumps, rock gardens and wooden structures of varying difficulty.

Environment and Native Planting

Environmentally and sustainability conscious, the club is responsible for increasing the native plant population in the riverside area by almost 7000.

River Walkway

The Walkway was created primarily for walkers, runners and dogs to avoid collisions with cyclists on the busy MTB Loop. Beginner cyclists may also take this route.

Productive, forward-thinking and mutually beneficial relationships with the local council, ECAN and landowners over the last ten years have resulted in an amazing community asset that continues to see over 1000 users weekly.
